Nordic Walking

The landscape of the furthermost part of Bregenzerwald in Au-Schoppernau is especially well suited for Nordic walking due to its diversity and underdeveloped alpine and agricultural roads. Whether you choose the valley or the higher and gentle alpine lanes, or the mountain elevation that reaches up to 2,000m with fantastic views of the Lechtal, Vorarlberg and Allgäu Alps and even further to the Swiss Alps and Lake Constance:

Nordic walking in Au-Schoppernau will certainly be a remarkable experience of nature and its landscapes.

Nordic Walking

We have worked out seven different route suggestions of various lengths and difficulties for Nordic walkers. The routes follow paths that are marked and labeled according to the new Vorarlberg hiking paths concept, therefore, Nordic walking has no specificlly labeled signs on the marked routes along the way, in order not to overcrowd sign posts. The Nordic routes simply follow the designated routes, just like on your Nordic walking map, and lead you to your chosen destination.

The routes are divided into three categories:
Easy (blue) = easy trails that are mostly on good, level terrain
Medium (red) = medium level of difficulty: Trails with various ascents and lengths of 5 km or longer
Difficult (black) = difficult trails with partially steep ascents/descents on sometimes difficult terrain.

Nordic walking done properly:
Whoever would like t try Nordic walking and would like to do it properly, should take an introductory course from a certified Nordic walking trainer. The course teaches the proper basic techniques, identifies the corresponding arm swing and pole length, informs you of heart rate zones and teaches you warm up /cool down exercises.

Nordic walking is a great and social way to exercise in the great outdoors that is not only fun but also easy to learn and do. Introductory courses are offered regularly in Au-Schoppernau.
