Craftsmanship and design from the Bregenzerwald

Craftsmanship and design from the Bregenzerwald

Craftsmanship and design from the Bregenzerwald

Sharpening one's own perspective, sharing knowledge and providing new inspiration: Working collaboratively is one of the key approaches of the Werkraum Bregenzerwald.

It’s a meeting of equals when creatives from the fields of architecture, design and art get together and the “Generation Köln meets Werkraum Bregenzerwald” collaborative project is a prime example. For this special cooperation, the Generation Köln design collective travelled to Bregenzerwald, where they met with five members of the Werkraum team. Taking a novel approach, the four designers noted the deep connections between people and materials. In doing so, they highlighted the fact that silver fir trees that grow in the lower mountain range are both a raw material and a habitat in the Bregenzerwald. With this material as a unifying design element, new pieces of furniture were ultimately created in close collaboration with the five craftsmen, reflecting impressions of the landscape, traditions, building culture and craftsmanship.
