Winter Hiking

Winter hiking paths: about 40 km of prepared paths run partially parallel to cross country runs and away from streets and traffic.

Marked and Posted Trails:
The walking paths are in marked and posted in the color pink. Because of the changing weather conditions in winter, walking times can be longer than specified for summer. "Shoe chains" are recommended for protection against sliding accidents in the ice and snow. Winter hiking, as hiking done at any time of the year, is done at your own risk!

Bergkristall Hut WALKING TIME: 2 H ALTITUDE: 420 M

A tour to Bergkristall hut is a definitely more athletic challenge than winter hiking in the valley.

Your starting point is Bäckerei Fetz in Au-Argenau (bus stop), from there a groomed trail takes hikers across the Dürrenbachtal to the Bergkristall hut. This beautiful, placid valley is hemmed in by the steeply towering and craggy limestone peaks of Zitterklapfen and Annalper Stecken. Descend on the same trail. Bring a sleigh, snow conditions permitting.

Where to stop and rest:
Bergkristall hut (closed on Mondays)
