You’re on the Bregenzerwald cycle path between Schoppernau and Egg. Suddenly you’ve had enough: you want to take a bus to continue onwards or go back... that’s no problem over here, thanks to the new Bregenzerwald bike hire service.
Visitors and local residents can hire bicycles – and discover the region on the Bregenzerwald cycle path, knowing that they can return the bike at any one of the following points:
Hire and return locations:
Schoppernau [local authority, Diedamskopf valley terminal]
Au [local authority, Rehmen church]
Mellau [local authority]
Bezau [railway station and secondary school]
Egg [“Impuls” centre]
EUR 1 per hour
EUR 5 for 24 hours
To register for the cycle hire service:
you need to make a one-off registration in which you disclose your bank or credit card details. If you wish to pay via a bank transfer you will also be asked for your Bregenzerwald Card number. You can register on the Internet www.anrufen-losfahren.com or by calling the service hotline on 01-319 02 54.
To hire a bike:
1. Go to the bike hire point
2. Call the hotline on 01-319 02 54 (open 24 hours)
3. Enter the number of your preferred bicycle
4. You will receive a numeric activation code
5. Use the activation code to open the lock and cycle away
To return your bike:
You can return your bike at any of the locations indicated. Simply lock the bike and call the hotline. Indicate the location and sign off from the service.
